Who We Are:

Little Horizons Pediatric PT & Wellness is a child-centered, private pay physical therapy practice dedicated to supporting children 0-18 years old as they grow, move, and thrive. We provide individualized physical therapy and wellness services in a calm, nurturing, and holistic environment where each child is seen as a whole. We believe every child is created with inherent dignity and worth, and we honor that in the way we care for, support, and serve each family.

Our approach blends evidence-based physical therapy with intentional, play-based care that honors each child’s unique abilities and developmental journey. We partner closely with families, offering education, encouragement, and practical tools to support progress both in and beyond the therapy space.

At Little Horizons, we believe small steps can lead to meaningful growth. Our mission is to create a supportive space where children feel safe, capable, and confident as they reach new horizons in movement and wellness.

MEET The Physical THerapist

Allie Johnson is a pediatric physical therapist and the founder/owner of Little Horizons PT and Wellness. She is a North Texas native who grew up in Richardson, Texas. Allie is passionate about an integrative approach to healthcare, holistic living, and serving infants and children of all ages and ability levels.

Allie attended John Brown University for undergrad where she played collegiate volleyball (participating in her fair share of physical therapy), was a student athletic trainer, and earned a Bachelors of Science in Sports Medicine. She earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from UT’s Medical Branch in Galveston.

Allie discovered a passion for serving children in college as she spent her summers interning with a mission organization putting on sports camps for children that included weeks of camps for children with developmental delays and disabilities in the states and abroad.

Allie has over a decade of experience and has worked with children of all ability and age levels.

Allie is level 1 certified in Task Specific Electrical Stimulation (TASES), level A certified in Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) and has received additional training on torticollis/plagiocephaly and assessment and management of tethered oral tissues. Additionally, Allie has extensive experience with children and adults with brain injuries. She has done additional coursework in pediatric therapeutic taping, whole body vibration, and pediatric foot development. Allie also has many years of experience with pediatric equipment and orthotic prescription.

Allie is passionate about educating parents on gross motor development and helping them see their kids thrive through movement.

Allie and her husband live in Richardson with their two young boys. Allie’s favorite and most cherished title is “mom”. Her family is active in their local church. They love spending time outdoors, traveling, reading great books together, and enjoy exploring local parks and museums. You’ll often find her with a matcha latte or green juice in hand exploring all DFW has to offer with her boys.

Signs Your Child May Benefit From Physical Therapy

  • Delays in reaching motor milestones (rolling, sitting, crawling, walking)

  • Prefers one side of the body or turns their head more easily in one direction

  • Tethered oral tissues

  • Appears stiff, floppy, or has difficulty moving against gravity

  • Tires easily during play or struggles with endurance

  • Has difficulty with balance, coordination, or frequent falls

  • Walks on toes or has an unusual walking pattern

  • Avoids movement, climbing, or playground activities

  • Appears uncomfortable, tense, or fussy with certain positions or movements

  • Has trouble keeping up with peers during physical play

  • Shows limited core strength or poor posture

  • Experiences pain, asymmetry, or movement restrictions

  • Has difficulty transitioning between positions (floor to stand, sitting to standing)

  • Seems unsure of their body in space or lacks body awareness

  • Becomes easily dysregulated or overwhelmed during movement-based activities

  • Has a congenital diagnosis or birth-related condition that may impact movement or development, such as:

    • Torticollis

    • Plagiocephaly or brachycephaly

    • Down syndrome

    • Spina bifida

    • Cerebral palsy

    • Genetic or chromosomal conditions affecting muscle tone or coordination

  • Has a medical history or neurological diagnosis affecting motor skills

  • Parents feel something “just doesn’t seem right” with their child’s movement

When in doubt, early intervention always helps. No need to “wait and see”. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s movement or development, a physical therapy evaluation can offer clarity, guidance, and peace of mind.
